Allianz Parque attracts record crowd for Campeonato Paulista de Futebol final

São Paulo’s Allianz Parque welcomed its largest crowd for a football game, with the fixture between Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras and Água Santa attracting 41,444 spectators.

The total is the highest for a football match since the stadium opened in November 2014. The Campeonato Paulista de Futebol final surpassed the previous record of 41,361, set by the match between Palmeiras and São Paulo for the 2022 Copa do Brasil.

It was also the fourth time that Palmeiras has featured in the state championship finals at home.

Allianz Parque has witnessed Palmeiras win 13 trophies, with the club winning three Paulista Championships in 2020, 2022 and 2023; three Campeonato Brasileiro Série A trophies in 2016, 2018 and 2022; two Copa do Brasil trophies in 2015 and 2020 and the Recopa Sul-Americana in 2022.

The 45,000-capacity stadium also provided the backdrop for the women’s Paulista Championship win for Palmeiras women’s team in 2022, which is the first time since the team was reactivated in 2018. The stadium also hosted Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior matches in 2022 and 2023, and 2018 Brazilian Under-20 Championship fixtures.

Claudio Macedo, chief executive of WTorre Entretenimento, which manages the stadium, said: “Allianz Parque is the home of Palmeiras and we have been working to constantly improve the experience for fans and players. This, in addition to the excellent campaign that Palmeiras has been doing, is reflected in these continuous breaks in attendance records, box office and visits to the arena. We are very happy to be able to contribute to the success of the club’s history.”
