LIVE, the UK trade group for the live music industry, has launched a manifesto for all local election candidates asking them to pledge their support for the sector.<\/p>\n
LIVE\u2019s manifesto pledges set out a commitment to recognising the positive impact that artists, venues, festivals, and the wider supply chain have on both local economies and quality of life, along with a promise to provide support to struggling businesses as they seek to recover post pandemic. LIVE said it continues to lobby on several mechanisms to achieve this, including reforming the business rates system and providing additional funds for artists and freelancers.<\/p>\n
Pledges \u2013 ahead of today\u2019s (May 5) local elections \u2013 include a commitment to support local music venues and festivals through local licensing and planning policies, and support for struggling individuals and businesses such as discretionary business rates relief.<\/p>\n

The group called on the public to ensure candidates know about the pledge. It said: \u201cWe need your help to make sure as many local candidates sign up to support our sector as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
