K-pop favourites BTS have become ambassadors for Busan\u2019s World Expo 2030 bid, and will hold a Global Busan Concert to support the city\u2019s effort.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Busan Metropolitan City in South Korea is vying to become the host of the 2030 World Expo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Chairman of South Korean entertainment company HYBE, Bang Si-Hyuk and chief executive Park Jiwon, as well as the Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to help promote Busan\u2019s bid.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n HYBE is the agency behind BTS \u2013 who recently announced a hiatus to pursue solo projects \u2013 and have ensured that the seven-piece boyband will be fully involved in the process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The group will hold a Global Concert in Busan; host activities that will appeal to the members of the Bureau International de Expositions (BIE); personally introduce the proposed for the BIE Enquiry Missions; serve as the ambassadors at South Korea\u2019s presentation session; be present on election day; provide videos and pictures for the city\u2019s digital campaign and spread promotional videos via social media channels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n HYBE chairman Bang said: \u201cGiven the importance of its bid as a nation to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan, BTS and HYBE will do our best to successfully bring the World Expo to Busan.<\/p>\n \u201cThis will be a great opportunity to contribute to further development of K-Culture as well as its local pop cultures in Busan.\u201d<\/p>\n Mayor Park added: \u201cI\u2019d like to express my sincere appreciation to the members of BTS and HYBE for accepting to be the ambassadors of the World Expo 2030 in Busan.<\/p>\n \u201cThe group\u2019s support as ambassadors will be incredibly helpful in stepping up our efforts to bring the World Expo to Busan.\u201d<\/p>\n Image: I DARE U JK<\/a>\/CC BY 3.0<\/a>\/Edited for size<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
