EFL Championship football club Reading has offered to cap tickets for away fans visiting the Select Car Leasing Stadium at \u00a320 (\u20ac23.25\/$23.81) \u2013 if other teams agree to reciprocate when it plays away from home.<\/p>\n
Reading has written to each of the other 23 clubs in the Championship to detail its \u00a320 ticket plan, with Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City having already agreed to the prices.<\/p>\n
It means that Cardiff, Blackburn, Huddersfield and Swansea fans travelling to the Select Car Leasing Stadium during the 2022-23 season will pay no more than \u00a320 \u2013 the same price Reading supporters will pay when their club visits the three teams.<\/span><\/p>\n Reading has championed the \u2018Twenty\u2019s Plenty\u2019 campaign since 2016, with away fans visiting the Select Car Leasing Stadium all paying \u00a320 or less to watch their team play.<\/span><\/p>\n Clubs are only permitted to charge away fans the equivalent price that they charge their own supporters in a comparable section of their stadium. From next season, some Reading home tickets will be priced at slightly more than \u00a320, meaning that the club will be allowed to charge the same amount for away fans.<\/span><\/p>\n But the club is hoping to retain its \u00a320 away ticket price by inviting other teams to return the favour when Reading plays on the road. The reciprocal arrangement prices will only apply to tickets purchased in advance, and not on the day of the match.<\/span><\/p>\n Reading will host Cardiff in its first home match of the new season on August 6, and visiting supporters will spend no more than \u00a320 on their ticket after the Welsh club responded to Reading\u2019s offer.<\/span><\/p>\n Reading is hopeful that more clubs will join Cardiff, Blackburn, Huddersfield and Swansea in supporting the initiative before the season starts later this month.<\/span><\/p>\n Image: Forces77<\/a>\/CC0 1.0<\/a>\/Edited for size<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
