{"id":2106,"date":"2022-08-01T07:52:53","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T14:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/01\/birmingham-2022-commonwealth-games-to-break-attendance-records\/"},"modified":"2022-08-01T07:52:53","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T14:52:53","slug":"birmingham-2022-commonwealth-games-to-break-attendance-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/01\/birmingham-2022-commonwealth-games-to-break-attendance-records\/","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to break attendance records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Birmingham 2022 is set to be the most attended edition of the Commonwealth Games to take place in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Over 1.3 million tickets have been sold for the competition, with more than 500,000 having been sold to residents across the West Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers expect an additional one million people to visit the West Midlands during the competition, and attend its Birmingham 2022 Festival, a six month-long cultural programme that started in March this year.<\/p>\n<p>Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston said: \u201cExcitement for Birmingham 2022 is\u00a0rocketing\u00a0and the\u00a0record\u00a0demand for tickets is testament\u00a0to the incredible support the British public has for the Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the eyes of the Commonwealth on this great city,\u00a0these\u00a0historic Games\u00a0will bring people together through world-class sport and culture, grow the regional economy, and leave a lasting legacy for the\u00a0people of Birmingham and the West Midlands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Birmingham 2022 chief executive Ian Reid added: \u201cThe demand for tickets for the Games has been fantastic and we\u2019re thrilled to have sold a record-breaking 1.3 million so far, which will make for an incredible atmosphere at all our venues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are still some tickets left and selling fast, so don\u2019t miss your chance to be part of the largest sporting event to take place in the UK since the 2012 Olympics and witness sporting history being made here in the West Midlands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s T20 cricket competition is also geared up to set a new attendance record.<\/p>\n<p>Over 150,000 tickets have been sold, which would beat the previous record attendance of 136,549 set at the ICC Women\u2019s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
