Alternative rock band Weezer have cancelled their Broadway residency due to \u201clow ticket sales\u201d and \u201cunbelievably high expenses\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The band had been due to start the residency, which was intended to promote their ongoing SZNZ project, in September. The project is a year-long, four-EP release cycle matching up to each season, and was supposed to be celebrated across five nights at New York\u2019s Broadway Theatre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Each show would showcase each SZNZ EP individually mixed with Weezer classics, followed by a SZNZ encore featuring a mixture of the EPs and fan favourites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Frontman Rivers Cuomo shared on his official Discord Server (which was then posted to Reddit<\/a>) that the band was being forced to cancel the shows because of the low ticket sales.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He said: \u201cI\u2019ve just learned that our Broadway shows have been cancelled (due to low ticket sales and unbelievably high expenses).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very sorry to be telling you this now after we\u2019ve already invested so much time, thought, and emotion.
