{"id":2807,"date":"2022-10-27T06:26:50","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/27\/events-com-acquires-brown-paper-tickets-theticketingbusiness-news\/"},"modified":"2022-10-27T06:26:50","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T13:26:50","slug":"events-com-acquires-brown-paper-tickets-theticketingbusiness-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/27\/events-com-acquires-brown-paper-tickets-theticketingbusiness-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Events.com\u00a0acquires Brown Paper Tickets &#8211; TheTicketingBusiness News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Events.com\u00a0has acquired the assets of ticketing company Brown Paper Tickets (BPT).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Events.com\u00a0platform provides a range of software and services through several brands to aid event discovery, ticketing, sponsorship, marketing and management.<\/p>\n<p>It was recently revealed that Brown Paper Tickets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2022\/10\/12\/brown-paper-tickets-still-owes-millions-to-event-producers-and-ticket-buyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still owed millions<\/a> of dollars to customers and event producers, even after a settlement with the Washington State Attorney General.<\/p>\n<p>Events.com\u00a0said that in advance of the acquisition, it helped BPT in its efforts to refund ticket-holders and assist event organisers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>As per the release,\u00a0Events.com\u00a0said: \u201cTo accelerate BPT\u2019s recovery and provide event customers with cash refunds rather than credits that much of the industry has issued,\u00a0Events.com\u00a0will continue to advance additional payments to BPT, enabling them to accelerate their payouts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The release also said that the pandemic had hit BPT particularly hard, and that\u00a0Events.com\u00a0had helped the company to pay event organisers over $39m (\u00a334m\/\u20ac39m) since January 2020, and to process refunds and payments worth tens of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>BPT will continue to process all remaining refunds and payments to customers impacted by delayed payments.<\/p>\n<p>Mitch Thrower,\u00a0Events.com\u00a0founder and chief executive, said: \u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with Brown Paper Tickets and support the company\u2019s decision to refund ticket holders, event organisers, venues, and entertainment partners affected by industry-wide shutdowns and the aftermath of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not only the right thing to do but a strong affirmation of one of\u00a0Events.com\u2019s core principles \u2013 to help event organisers and attendees.
