Shanghai Disney has shut its gates thanks to China\u2019s zero-COVID policy, with visitors trapped inside.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Disney fans were told they are not allowed to leave until they could present a negative test. The closure comes after Shanghai reported 10 locally transmitted cases on Saturday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n China still has strict regulations in place surrounding COVID-19, despite the rest of the world largely being restriction-free. This means that multiple cities have been placed in and out of lockdown and people trapped in strange locations, including Shanghai Disney Resort.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement on its website, Shanghai Disney said: \u201cIn order to follow the requirement of pandemic prevention and control, Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park will be closed starting Monday, October 31, 2022, with immediate effect. We will notify guests as soon as we have a confirmed date to resume operations.<\/p>\n \u201cWe apologise for the inconvenience and will provide refund or exchanges for all guests impacted during this period.\u201d<\/p>\n It was not all doom and gloom on Halloween though, as reports said visitors were able to use the rides<\/a> while they were trapped.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The park closed around 11:30am local time and visitors could only leave once they had proof of a negative test. Anyone that had visited the park since Thursday also had to return three negative test results over three consecutive days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
