{"id":2985,"date":"2022-11-17T03:16:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:16:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/11\/17\/new-london-kings-cross-venue-to-open-with-david-hockney-show\/"},"modified":"2022-11-17T03:16:42","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:16:42","slug":"new-london-kings-cross-venue-to-open-with-david-hockney-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/11\/17\/new-london-kings-cross-venue-to-open-with-david-hockney-show\/","title":{"rendered":"New London King\u2019s Cross venue to open with David Hockney show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">London is set to welcome a new venue, Lightroom, which is billed as a \u2018new home for spectacular artist-led shows\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lightroom is located in King\u2019s Cross on Lewis Cubitt Square and has been designed by Haworth Tompkins as a sister space to the Bridge Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>The new London venue is a joint venture between design and production company, 59 Productions, and London Theatre Company.<\/p>\n<p>It has been backed by a senior group of investors led by Sir Leonard Blavatnik who is represented by Danny Cohen, president of Access Entertainment and Michael Sherwood, former co-chief executive of Goldman Sachs International. Lightroom\u2019s chief executive is Richard Slaney, formerly of 59 Productions, and its executive chair will be Nick Starr, co-founder with Nicholas Hynter of London Theatre Company.<\/p>\n<p>Lightroom is located in a four-storey-high space and is equipped with the latest digital projection and audio technology. It is set to open on January 25.<\/p>\n<p>Booking for its first show, David Hockney: Bigger and Closer, is now open for the initial period between January 25 and April 23. The artist will use the new venue to take the audience on a journey through his art, featuring iconic paintings alongside rarely seen pieces and newly created work.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets start at \u00a325 ($30\/\u20ac29) for adults and from \u00a315 for students.<\/p>\n<p>The show is the result of a three-year collaboration between Hockney and the creators of Lightroom, and will be the first original show for the venue.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-82023\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody-300x138.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"776\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody-1024x473.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody-768x354.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody-500x231.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/LightroomBody.jpg 1300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 776px) 100vw, 776px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Show director Mark Grimmer of 59 Productions said: \u201cWe have worked with David to bring together large-scale projected images, animation, archival and bespoke interviews and a commissioned score to create a new kind of show which owes as much to Hockney\u2019s theatrical design as to his painting, drawing and photography. It\u2019s been thrilling to work with David over the last three years and we hope the show will introduce a whole new audience to his art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hynter added: \u201cWhat\u2019s so exciting about this show is how authentically Hockney<i>\u00a0<\/i>it is. Listening to his voice in this astonishing new space while seeing his artworks unfurl around the four walls is going to be both an experience and an education. It suggests how potent this medium will be for the other creators and artists with whom we will make new and original Lightroom shows in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Access Entertainment\u2019s Cohen said: \u201cLightroom is a new home for the world\u2019s great artistic innovators.
