The Women\u2019s Super League (WSL) has seen its average attendances increase by 200% following England Women\u2019s win at Euro 2022 in the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
England beat Germany in the final of UEFA Women\u2019s Euro 2022 at a packed Wembley Stadium, which boasted a bumper crowd of 87,192<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The attendance set a record across the men\u2019s and women\u2019s edition of the tournament, and continued to have a positive impact on attendances<\/a> across women\u2019s sport<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Kelly Simmons, the director of the women\u2019s professional game, also noted that average attendances in the Women\u2019s Champions had also increased by 85%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Simmons was speaking to the BBC<\/a> ahead of the upcoming final round of WSL fixtures before the winter break, and said: \u201cThe Lionesses\u2019 victory propelled the women\u2019s game in this country to new levels. It was important for us to capture and capitalise on that momentum.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cIt has often been said that a successful women\u2019s England team will help generate interest in the domestic game.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is certainly true, and I have been really overwhelmed by the response we have seen from fans \u2013 new and old \u2013 in the first half of the season. I am delighted to reveal that since the season commenced, we have seen almost 300,000 spectators attend matches across the Barclays Women\u2019s Super League.<\/p>\n \u201cThis just highlights how much appetite there is for world-class women\u2019s league football. We are currently averaging almost 6,000 fans a week in the Barclays Women\u2019s Super League as we go into the final league fixtures of 2022 \u2013 which is up over 200% on this time last year.\u201d<\/p>\n Over 30,000 fans recently packed out Old Trafford<\/a> to watch Manchester United Women take on Aston Villa Women, a record for the club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The current record attendance for a WSL match was set at Emirates Stadium, where 47,367 watched<\/a> Arsenal beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in September.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n
