{"id":3269,"date":"2022-12-20T03:30:25","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T11:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/20\/creative-scotland-disappointed-by-scottish-government-funding-cuts\/"},"modified":"2022-12-20T03:30:25","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T11:30:25","slug":"creative-scotland-disappointed-by-scottish-government-funding-cuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/20\/creative-scotland-disappointed-by-scottish-government-funding-cuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Creative Scotland &#8216;disappointed&#8217; by Scottish Government funding cuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Creative Scotland has said it is \u201cdisappointed\u201d by the decision from the Scottish Government to cut its funding by more than 10%.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation\u2019s board met yesterday (Monday) to discuss the implications of the funding cuts.<\/p>\n<p>Creative Scotland\u2019s anger follows the Scottish Government\u2019s 2023-24 budget announcement last week that included cuts worth almost \u00a37m ($8.5m\/\u20ac8m) to the public body.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Creative Scotland said: \u201cWhilst the board fully appreciates the challenging context in which the Scottish Government has reached its decision, and the pressures that are being felt by everyone across all parts of society, we\u00a0are extremely disappointed by the settlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt comes at a time of significant pressures for cultural organisations due to the impact of the pandemic, rising inflation, falling income and spiralling operating costs, when the value of culture and creativity to people\u2019s lives has never been more important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Creative Scotland receives more than a third of its income from The National Lottery as one of the 12 cultural, sport and heritage distributors for good causes.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation added that to address the cut in funding, Creative Scotland would utilise a proportion of its National Lottery reserves to maintain funding for Regularly Funded Organisations (RFOs) at 2022-23 levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNational Lottery reserves are finite and therefore can only be a time-limited solution to address Scottish Government budget reductions in 2023-24.
