{"id":3514,"date":"2023-01-24T03:19:55","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T11:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/24\/ticketmaster-to-blame-cyberattack-witnesses-revealed-for-hearing\/"},"modified":"2023-01-24T03:19:55","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T11:19:55","slug":"ticketmaster-to-blame-cyberattack-witnesses-revealed-for-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/24\/ticketmaster-to-blame-cyberattack-witnesses-revealed-for-hearing\/","title":{"rendered":"Ticketmaster to blame cyberattack, witnesses revealed for hearing\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Ticketmaster is set to blame a cyberattack in November for the problems encountered by fans attempting to purchase tickets for Taylor Swift\u2019s Eras Tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/amp\/news\/2023\/01\/23\/ticketmaster-cyberattack-taylor-swift-tickets-00079119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>, president and chief financial officer of Live Nation \u2013 Ticketmaster\u2019s parent company \u2013 Joe Berchtold will tell today\u2019s antitrust hearing that the ticketing platform was hit by three times the amount of bot traffic than it has ever experienced before.<\/p>\n<p>Not only this, but prepared notes will also say that for the first time in 400 Verified Fan on-sales, the bots targeted Verified Fan access code servers.<\/p>\n<p>However, Berchtold will reportedly emphasise that the hackers did not manage to illegally obtain tickets.<\/p>\n<p>The incident led to anger from Taylor Swift fans and lawmakers, with the events leading to today\u2019s \u2018That\u2019s the Ticket: Promoting Competition and Protecting Consumers in Live Entertainment\u2019 hearing from the Senate Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The witnesses, alongside Berchtold, also include SeatGeek chief executive Jack Groetzinger.<\/p>\n<p>The ticketing platform recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/01\/16\/barclays-center-returns-to-ticketmaster-after-dropping-seatgeek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lost its seven-year contract<\/a> with Brooklyn\u2019s Barclays Center to Ticketmaster, just over one year into the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>Further witnesses include Jerry Mickelson, CEO and president of Chicago-based concert promoter JAM Productions; senior vice-president of Florida-based free-market think tank, The James Madison Institute, Sal Nuzzo; Kathleen Bradish, vice-president for legal advocacy of Washington-based nonprofit American Antitrust Institute;
