{"id":356,"date":"2021-12-07T04:33:56","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T12:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/07\/live-nation-entertainment-closes-acquisition-of-ocesa\/"},"modified":"2021-12-07T04:33:56","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T12:33:56","slug":"live-nation-entertainment-closes-acquisition-of-ocesa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2021\/12\/07\/live-nation-entertainment-closes-acquisition-of-ocesa\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Nation Entertainment closes acquisition of OCESA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Live Nation Entertainment has completed its acquisition of a 51% controlling interest in Latin American promoter OCESA Entretenimiento.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition was originally announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2019\/07\/25\/live-nation-acquires-latams-ocesa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 2019<\/a>, but Live Nation pulled out in 2020 due to the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Live Nation had agreed to acquire a 40% stake in OCESA from Grupo Televisa for around $290m (\u00a3218.7m\/\u20ac257.4m) and an additional 11% shareholding from Corporacion Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE).<\/p>\n<p>Live Nation resumed the takeover process <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2021\/09\/13\/live-nation-entertainment-to-acquire-ocesa-entretenimiento\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earlier this year<\/a>, with CIE retaining 41% of OCESA. The aggregate purchase price came in at MXN$8.835m, 7% of which will be held back and retained by Live Nation to cover any operating losses in a period of time following closing.<\/p>\n<p>OCESA also owns Ticketmaster Mexico and promotes events across Mexico and Colombia, with around 20 million tickets sold annually.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Rapino, president and chief executive, Live Nation Entertainment, said: \u201cAs we continue to bring shows back around the world, we\u2019re excited to officially welcome OCESA into Live Nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlex and the OCESA team are incredible at what they do and together we look forward to creating even more amazing live experiences across Mexico and Latin America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alejandro Sober\u00f3n Kuri, chairman of the board and chief operating officer of CIE, added: \u201cThis strategic agreement extends the already successful relationship we have with Live Nation and we are very proud to take it to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to finally join forces with Michael and his team.
