{"id":3568,"date":"2023-01-30T08:53:44","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T16:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/30\/hong-kong-government-files-charges-against-mirror-incident-contractors\/"},"modified":"2023-01-30T08:53:44","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T16:53:44","slug":"hong-kong-government-files-charges-against-mirror-incident-contractors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/30\/hong-kong-government-files-charges-against-mirror-incident-contractors\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Kong Government files charges against Mirror incident contractors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Hong Kong authorities have initiated new prosecutions against contractors following an incident last year that saw a large video screen fall and crush two dancers during a Mirror concert.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The incident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2022\/07\/29\/dancers-crushed-by-falling-led-screen-at-mirror-concert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">happened in July<\/a> at the Hong Kong Coliseum (pictured), with one dancer reportedly still hospitalised and at risk of permanent paralysis.<\/p>\n<p>The Cantopop band\u2019s remaining shows of the concert series were subsequently cancelled, and fans were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2022\/08\/18\/mirror-fans-offered-refund-following-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offered a refund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation was completed in November, but last week the government accused Engineering Impact, Hip Hing Loong Stage Engineering and Studiodanz of breaching Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance, and the Employees\u2019 Compensation Ordinance.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/music\/news\/mirror-concert-incident-hong-kong-charges-against-contractors-1235504300\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Variety<\/a>, the three companies\u2019 offences included failure to provide employees with safe systems of work, failure to notify the Commissioner for Labour of an accident and failure to take employees\u2019 compensation insurance for workers.<\/p>\n<p>The government filed \u2018conspiracy to defraud\u2019 charges against two men and a woman employed by Engineering Impact, and explained that they had deliberately made a false declaration about the weight of the TV screen to speed up the regulatory approval process.<\/p>\n<p>These latest charges bring the number up to 15 against the three companies in question.
