Australia\u2019s KFC Big Bash League attracted a record crowd of more than 53,000 at this year\u2019s Twenty20 cricket final at Optus Stadium in Perth.<\/p>\n
In figures released by organisers, more than one million people attended games during the course of the season. The average attendance of 16,725 was the highest since 2019-20, which finished just before the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic. Five games were sold out during the season.<\/p>\n
A record-breaking 53,886 fans were at Optus Stadium to watch the Perth Scorchers win the Championship Trophy in last week\u2019s thrilling final, the largest crowd at any BBL Finals match and at any cricket match in the host city.<\/p>\n
Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia\u2019s general manager of Big Bash Leagues, said: \u201cThe KFC BBL has the best fans in the country, and we are grateful to all those who attended and tuned in to watch our 12th season.<\/p>\n
\u201cBringing joy to our fans and delivering the summer\u2019s best show was the driving force for everyone across the League and clubs after two years disrupted by the pandemic. We are immensely proud to have achieved such a great result and we thank every person who played a role in making this season so special.<\/p>\n
