It was around 5% normally, but you\u2019re getting as much as 40% no-shows for some gigs now. It\u2019s an enormous problem, and it\u2019s happening for anything that\u2019s ticketed.\u201d<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not only are fans not attending a gig, but the founder and chief executive of Dice, Phil Hutcheon, said that customers are now more likely to ask for their money back compared to before the pandemic, if the show is postponed.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are returning tickets a lot more frequently now than pre-pandemic,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/amp.theguardian.com\/music\/2021\/dec\/12\/bands-and-djs-count-the-costs-as-uk-fans-fail-to-show-up-for-gigs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hutcheon<\/a>. \u201cThe pattern we have seen is that each time a show is moved, the person who bought the ticket is a lot less engaged about attending.\u201d<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Further complications to discourage fans from turning up to gigs and shows include the recently introduced \u2018Plan B\u2019 Covid-19 rules from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mask wearing is required at cinemas and theatres and Covid-19 vaccine passes will be enforced at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2021\/12\/09\/covid-passes-and-masks-for-theatres-cinemas-in-england\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concerts and night clubs<\/a> in England from Wednesday.<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The NHS Covid Pass on the NHS App will be needed by attendees to prove they have had two doses of the vaccine against coronavirus.
