Nevill Holt Opera has been forced to review its 2023 programme due to poor ticket sales.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The arts festival, which is held at Nevill Holt Hall (pictured) in Leicestershire in the UK, revealed that its performances of Ruggero Leoncavallo\u2019s Pagliacci and Giacomo Puccini\u2019s Gianni Schicchi will be cancelled.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to the extremely challenging circumstances facing arts institutions across the country Nevill Holt Opera has today announced that it has had to review its 2023 festival programme,\u201d the festival said in an announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe scheduled performance of Pagliacci & Gianni Schicchi has regretfully had to be cancelled. Patrons who have bought tickets for this performance are able to transfer their tickets to another performance, exchange for a credit note for next year\u2019s festival, or receive a full refund.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organisers said that low ticket sales, and the difficulties facing struggling families and the arts sector following the pandemic, contributed to the cancellations.<\/p>\n
The announcement added: \u201cThis is an extremely difficult period for the arts community which is struggling to make back losses from the disruption of COVID, dealing with record inflation and suffering from lower ticket sales as families struggle with the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe whole sector is facing significant financial challenges and having to make difficult decisions, but we are confident that by taking this approach now the Nevill Holt Festival will return even stronger next year and in years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
War Horse, The Concert will continue to run on June 11 as well as Gioachino Rossini\u2019s La Cenerentola, which will run between June 22-28.<\/p>\n
