{"id":4112,"date":"2023-04-06T03:43:18","date_gmt":"2023-04-06T10:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/06\/hong-kong-sevens-2023-reveals-positive-impact\/"},"modified":"2023-04-06T03:43:18","modified_gmt":"2023-04-06T10:43:18","slug":"hong-kong-sevens-2023-reveals-positive-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/06\/hong-kong-sevens-2023-reveals-positive-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Kong Sevens 2023 reveals positive impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">The Hong Kong Sevens 2023 rugby tournament attracted over 23,000 attendees on its opening night, and organisers have revealed the event\u2019s positive impact.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s tournament took place from March 31 to April 2 at Hong Kong Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) chief executive Robbie McRobbie told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbyasia247.com\/the-cathay-hsbc-hong-kong-sevens-2023-delivered-on-so-many-fronts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rugby Asia 24\/7<\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019ve been very happy with the tournament and the typical Scottish drizzly weather on day one was a bit unfortunate but it didn\u2019t seem to dampen the spirits of the 23,000 crowd who turned up and there was a really good buzz around the stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event returned to its spring slot after its \u2018return event\u2019 in November last year following the COVID-19 pandemic. This year\u2019s event saw New Zealand men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams secure a tournament double.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"shortcode-ad-holder within-content\">\n<div class=\"single-square-ad\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/adverts\/3d-digital-venue-march23\/\" class=\"ad-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"square-banner\" src=\" https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3DDV-500x700-1.gif\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"single-wide-ad\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/adverts\/3d-digital-venue-march23\/\" class=\"ad-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wide-banner\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/04\/06\/hong-kong-sevens-2023-reveals-positive-impact\/\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>McRobbie also highlighted the impact the event has for the HKRU, as well as local businesses and vendors within the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cI think that in terms of the larger impact on the city, we\u2019ve already seen that. One has to remember that the event is hugely important for the HKRU \u2013 it generates 95% of our revenue. But one can\u2019t forget all of the associated businesses and people whose livelihoods depend on the events industry \u2013 who again \u2013 have had a very, very tough three years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything within the stadium, the people who are selling the beer, and selling the hot dogs, to have this event back has already had a massive positive impact on people\u2019s livelihoods. People who have been either not working or certainly not earning the same level of income that they would normally do in a non-pandemic situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cThis has been very important. And this whole month for Hong Kong with Clockenflap, international golf, and international cricket next week.
