{"id":4371,"date":"2023-05-12T04:28:32","date_gmt":"2023-05-12T11:28:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/assomusica-appeals-to-italian-government-on-vat-split-payments\/"},"modified":"2023-05-12T04:28:32","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T11:28:32","slug":"assomusica-appeals-to-italian-government-on-vat-split-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/assomusica-appeals-to-italian-government-on-vat-split-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"Assomusica appeals to Italian Government on VAT split payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"primary\">\n<p class=\"standfirst\">Italy\u2019s Association of Producers and Organisers of Live Music Shows (Assomusica) has called on the Italian Government to spare the live music and entertainment sector from the split payment of VAT scheme, after the European Commission gave the green light for it to be extended. <\/p>\n<p>Italy first introduced its split payment plan in 2017, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalara.com\/vatlive\/en\/vat-news\/italy-extends-split-payments-till-jun-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sees customers pay the VAT element<\/a> of select transactions into restricted VAT accounts at the banks of vendors.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tax authorities are then able to closely monitor VAT due and limit the chance of non-repayment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Assomusica reported the country\u2019s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced the European Commission had granted permission for the renewal of the authorisation to apply the split payment of VAT.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/05\/10\/people-on-the-move-assomusica-solt-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">newly appointed<\/a> Assomusica president Carlo Parodi has appealed to the Italian Government to exclude the entertainment sector and live music business in particular.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said (translated): \u201cSplit payment is the regime intended for suppliers of the public administration to establish the liquidation and payment of VAT.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompanies that work with the Public Administration for concerts and public performances are damaged by the non-collection of VAT, creating a financial imbalance and a cash flow gap.
