This is an addition to the 107,000 music fans that have signed a petition.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Brixton\u2019s O2 Academy is facing calls to close permanently after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2022\/12\/20\/second-person-dies-following-brixton-o2-academy-crush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two people died<\/a> as the result of a crowd crush in December last year. The venue had its licence initially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2022\/12\/22\/brixton-o2-academy-has-licence-suspended-following-crush\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspended<\/a> for three months, before it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/01\/16\/brixton-o2-academy-set-to-remain-closed-for-further-three-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extended further<\/a> while investigations continued. London\u2019s Metropolitan Police then called for the venue to have its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/04\/27\/metropolitan-police-calls-for-o2-academy-brixton-licence-to-be-revoked\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">licence revoked<\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2023\/05\/12\/ntia-save-our-scene-and-brixton-bid-launch-campaign-to-save-o2-academy-brixton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">campaign was launched<\/a> to save the venue, which over the years has welcomed performances from the likes of Madonna, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Groove Armada, Arctic Monkeys, Stormzy, Kylie Minogue, Rihanna and more.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Kill, chief executive of the NTIA, said: \u201cWe have been overwhelmed with the level of response to this campaign, with over 20,000 representations made by music fans to Lambeth Council with support from The Prodigy, Muse, Defected, NME, Mixmag, Music Week, Skunk Anansie and many more.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had hundreds of conversations with people on this campaign journey, across all walks of life, journalists, bankers, nurses, builders, baristas etc. about their experiences at the Academy.
