Hong Kong residents will have free access to some of the city\u2019s leading museums and a number of cultural events on July 1.\u00a0 \n<\/p>\n
The move is part of the government\u2019s efforts to mark the 26th anniversary of the city\u2019s return to Chinese rule.<\/p>\n
Free admission will be on offer to permanent exhibitions at the Science Museum and Space Museum, except for the Space Theatre\u2019s shows. There will also be free entry to special exhibitions at a number of public museums, including the Heritage Museum, Science Museum and Museum of Art.<\/p>\n
Celebrations will also include free admission to M+ and seven thematic exhibitions of the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District.<\/p>\n
Visitors do not need to make a reservation in advance at M+ while those wanting to visit the Palace Museum will need to reserve a \u2018Free Standard Ticket\u2019. These tickets are available now.<\/p>\n
Further events include stand-up comedy shows, Cantonese opera performances, light shows and carnivals.<\/p>\n
Access to leisure activities as part of the anniversary day will include free admission to the Hong Kong Wetland Park on July 1.<\/p>\n
Free access to some transport links will provide a way for residents to enjoy the cultural and leisure activities on offer, as part of the celebrations.<\/p>\n
