{"id":493,"date":"2022-01-04T02:34:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T10:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/04\/covid-passes-kill-spontaneity-says-parklife-co-founder\/"},"modified":"2022-01-04T02:34:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-04T10:34:00","slug":"covid-passes-kill-spontaneity-says-parklife-co-founder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/01\/04\/covid-passes-kill-spontaneity-says-parklife-co-founder\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID passes \u2018kill spontaneity\u2019 says Parklife co-founder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Manchester-based Parklife festival and Warehouse Project co-founder Sacha Lord has said that the introduction of COVID-19 passports in England will \u201ckill the spontaneity\u201d of going out, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>COVID-19 passes were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2021\/12\/09\/covid-passes-and-masks-for-theatres-cinemas-in-england\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced in England in December<\/a>, meaning that attendees to events and venues had to provide proof of vaccination against coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/inews.co.uk\/news\/secret-parties-creative-club-nights-revive-nightlife-sector-needs-government-support-1363570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the I<\/a>, Lord said: \u201cThis will kill high street bars and clubs where you make a last-minute decision and pay on the door. I really fear for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Across the UK, commercial nightclubs make the majority of their revenue through spontaneous customers, with 75% of their trade coming from sales on the door.<\/p>\n<p>Lord added: \u201cPeople will still go on the \u2018big night out\u2019, but I think we might see them stay local and then, say six times a year, go for the big one they\u2019ve bought tickets for and planned months in advance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The impending VAT hike from 12.5% to 20% in March is also an issue among clubs and venues. The\u00a0increases include VAT on food and soft drinks, as well as entry to certain attractions such as theatres and concerts, which will affect the ticketing sector.<\/p>\n<p>The rate of VAT increased from 5% \u2013 which was put in place in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theticketingbusiness.com\/2021\/09\/20\/culture-secretary-confirms-vat-increase-for-live-event-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">July 2020<\/a> to help recovery during the pandemic \u2013 to 12.5% in October last year.<\/p>\n<p>Lord said: \u201cCulture is the blood of the high street. To go from 5% to 20% VAT in six months is far, far too soon.
