South African historical attraction Robben Island Museum is migrating its official ticketing platform from online ticket marketplace Webtickets to the newly implemented Plankton solution.<\/p>\n
The island is where anti-apartheid fighter, political leader and the first president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 serving years.<\/p>\n
South Africa\u2019s Department of Arts and Culture opened the museum in 1997 and attracts more than 200,000 tourists annually.<\/p>\n
Tours around the island allow visitors to learn about prominent South African figures Mandela, political dissident Robert Sobukwe and anti-apartheid activist Walter Sisulu.<\/p>\n
The museum told IOL<\/a>: \u201cVisitors can still secure their tickets via Webtickets for tours until January 15, 2022. But after the 15th, tickets will be available on the Plankton Solutions platform.<\/p>\n \u201cThe changes will not have an impact on tickets already bought on Webtickets, and these tickets will continue to be accepted upon boarding.\u201d<\/p>\n Robben Island Museum\u2019s new ticketing platform will also incorporate the new Walking Tour, which was not included in the current bus tour.<\/p>\n The museum will maintain 2021 ticket prices despite suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic \u2013 some 65% of their visitors are international tourists.<\/p>\n Image:\u00a0Moheen Reeyad<\/a>\/CC BY-SA 4.0<\/a>\/Edited for size<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
