Tasmania\u2019s Hobart Showground is set to undergo a major revamp after funding was agreed between the Tasmanian Liberal Government and Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment would see a number of projects undertaken including the delivery of a new showground pavilion, arena, site infrastructure, commercial precinct, large open spaces as well as residential housing.<\/p>\n
The final AUD$42.15m (\u00a323m\/\u20ac28m\/$30m) of funding was agreed by the local government and agricultural society to fund the project. Some AUD$1.5bn will be spent on the accompanying housing development over the next 10 years, which will see a minimum of 450 homes built.<\/p>\n
The new facilities will cater for the local community, business, sporting tourism and has been designed to accommodate events, activities, shows, trade shows, music and conferences.<\/p>\n
Michael Ferguson, Minister for State Development, Construction and Housing, said in a release: \u201cThis level of investment will provide significant opportunities for local businesses and suppliers to benefit from the redevelopment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to seeing the project get underway shortly and its completion by early 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n
