{"id":958,"date":"2022-03-07T02:45:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T10:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/07\/the-batman-posts-strong-opening-weekend-ticket-sales\/"},"modified":"2022-03-07T02:45:55","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T10:45:55","slug":"the-batman-posts-strong-opening-weekend-ticket-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.goticketly.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/07\/the-batman-posts-strong-opening-weekend-ticket-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018The Batman\u2019 posts strong opening weekend ticket sales\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u2018The Batman\u2019 posted a commendable $128.5m (\u00a398m\/\u20ac118m) on its debut weekend across 4,417 North American cinemas.<\/p>\n<p>It is the best opening weekend for cinema ticket sales in the US in 2022, and is only the second pandemic-era film to post more than $100m in one weekend, after \u2018Spider-Man: No Way Home\u2019 was released in December.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Batman\u2019 further grossed $120m internationally, taking its opening weekend total to $248.5m.<\/p>\n<p>In the UK, \u2018The Batman\u2019 \u2013 which was filmed in locations such as Liverpool, Glasgow and London \u2013\u00a0is being heralded as the start of a box office boom.<\/p>\n<p>According to an article from the Guardian, box office sales in the UK are forecast to top \u00a31bn for the first time since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018James Bond: No Time to Die\u2019 provided the UK with its biggest October in box office history, while internationally, \u2018Spider-Man: No Way Home\u2019 has taken $1.8bn in box office ticket sales, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of all time.<\/p>\n<p>The UK is now without any coronavirus restrictions, meaning film lovers have been gradually returning to the cinema.<\/p>\n<p>David Hancock, film analyst at London-based analyst and consultancy firm Omdia, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2022\/mar\/06\/film-industry-the-batman-box-office-sales-covid-pandemic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Guardian<\/a>: \u201cThe huge success of Bond and Spiderman proved that cinema is back, but both did it within COVID when cinemagoing was not considered to be back to normal conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be judging \u2018Batman\u2019 as the first \u2018post-COVID film\u2019, if you like, on its pure merits. The hesitancy to return to cinema and the rush when fans starved of big new releases were actually able to see one are not factors.
