A planning application for the project was first submitted to the London Legacy Development Corporation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestadiumbusiness.com\/2019\/03\/27\/msg-submits-plans-major-new-london-venue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">March 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>MSG Sphere would be located in Stratford, East London, and would have a scalable capacity of up to 17,500 seated, or 21,500 when there is a mix of seated and standing. The latter, in theory, would be greater than the official capacity of The O2.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestadiumbusiness.com\/2020\/11\/05\/aeg-flags-serious-concerns-with-msg-sphere-proposal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">November 2020<\/a>, AEG called for the planning application for the MSG Sphere project to be withdrawn and resubmitted due to \u201csignificant concerns\u201d.
