The World Snooker Tour has partnered with Tourism Exchange Great Britain (TXGB) and has launched an online booking platform.
The new system will enable snooker fans to purchase accommodation and experiences across World Snooker’s UK-based events.
Fans were able to use the platform for the first time for the start of the Betfred World Championship, which began on Saturday at the Crucible Theatre in the English city of Sheffield. The tournament is set to run until May 2.
The World Snooker Tour hosts events in many UK locations including London, Sheffield and York. The booking platform is integrated into the World Snooker Tour’s website and will display live availability and pricing for fans.
The booking platform will also help local businesses to engage with the travelling snooker fan base, analyse sales data and generate bookings for accommodation, experiences and activities.
TXGB was launched in 2019 in partnership with VisitBritain, the tourist board for Great Britain, to allow tourism businesses to broaden distribution and enable customers to access more bookable products.
Miles Pearce, commercial director for the World Snooker Tour, said: “We are delighted to partner with TXGB on this new initiative, which will give fans a better and more convenient opportunity to make the most of the cities we visit and enhance their experience of snooker tournaments around the UK.”
James Berzins, managing director of TXGB, added: “Our mission is to unlock the full potential of tourism in the UK and celebrate the diversity of the industry. We are accessible to all sizes of businesses as we continue to grow the value and volume of tourism, and sport has a key role to play in that. WST is a perfect partner for us given their profile, fan base, and adoption and focus on digital.”
