Ticketmaster Germany and the National Football League (NFL) have partnered for the upcoming inaugural NFL matches in Germany.
The ticket company will provide its sports ticketing technology, and has worked with the NFL for its international games in London since 2007. The NFL also recently announced a four-year extension to its deal with Ticketmaster in the US.
The NFL announced last year that as part of its International Home Marketing Areas initiative, four teams – Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – would be able to play in Germany. The hope is to bolster fan engagement, marketing and commercialisation.
Munich’s Allianz Arena will stage the first-ever regular-season NFL game in Germany later this year, while Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park will host games over the next few years.
The NFL had been in discussion with two German cities of Munich and Frankfurt, as well as Düsseldorf, which missed out on hosting games.
Munich’s NFL game will be one of five International fixtures in 2022, with one to be held in Mexico and three to be staged in the UK.
