Tech Stack: VIPs, NFTs, DeFi-funded events and more…

Our weekly tech round-up from the world of ticketing and associated industries…

The zoo goes digital

Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Michigan, has enabled visitors to purchase advance admission tickets online. Guests can choose the number and type of admission tickets and add extras like parking through the zoo’s website.

Visitors can then upload their ticket to their mobile phone, or print a copy of the ticket, before scanning tickets at the entry gate.

VIPs and NFTs

Luxury party host and exclusive club for the rich and famous, Amber Lounge, is world-renowned for its exuberant experiences in and around the Formula 1 world championship. Now, it is launching its own NFT (non-fungible token)—based VIP memberships.

Only 1,888 invite-only memberships, in the form of the ‘Amber X’ NFTs will be available for purchase. Holders will have lifetime access to a range of international VIP and global pop-up events.

Celebrity guests have previously included Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, artists such as Just Bieber and Kylie Minogue and models including Naomi Campbell.

Centre stage

Ticketing company Stage Front has been announced as the new ticketing, hospitality and travel platform for all Matchroom Boxing events.

The partnership will begin from July and will focus on future innovation including Web3 and entering the Metaverse with strategies including NFTs.

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing chairman, said: “We are always looking to improve the fan experience at our events and this partnership with ticketing technology leader Stage Front will allow us to push the innovation to another level.”

DeFi-funded events

Boutique ticketing solution XTIXS has partnered with GET Protocol to announce a decentralised finance (DeFi)-funded event, Reykjavik Live, featuring artist Lewis Capaldi in August.

This means that the show is backed up by a bespoke application of blockchain technologies including DeFi, NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and GET Protocol’s utility token $GET. Future ticket inventory serves as collateral for a loan, with conditions programmed into a smart contract.
