Center Theatre Group launches ‘Ticket Drop Tuesdays’

Arts and culture organisation Center Theatre Group has launched ‘Ticket Drop Tuesdays’, which will see tickets released for a $20 (£18/€20) flat rate every Tuesday.

The tickets will be for shows at The Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, which are all operated by Center Theatre Group.

Beginning yesterday (Tuesday) Ticket Drop Tuesdays hopes to encourage everyone to go to the theatre. A limited number of tickets will be made available each week at 12pm local time, with new shows and ticket locations added every time. All fees will also be waived by theatre-goers using the code TUESDAY20.

The new low-cost ticket opportunity is the latest initiative to fall under Center Theatre Group’s ‘Theatre Access for LA’. The programme seeks to create a more inclusive theatre through subsidised ticket offers, audience engagement, education projects and more.

Further initiatives include ‘FreePlay’, which offers free tickets to anyone aged 25 or under to select performances at all Center Theatre Group productions. The ‘In the House’ scheme also offers free tickets to LA area schools, colleges, and non-profit organisations.

Tickets for yesterday’s drop included entry for ‘The Search for Signs of intelligent Life in the Universe’ and ‘Clyde’s’ at the Mark Taper Forum, and ‘2:22 – A Ghost Story’ at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Meghan Pressman, Center Theatre Group’s managing director and chief executive, said: “We believe having access to live theatre is integral to creating a vibrant, inspired, and innovative community. We want our audiences to attend again and again to share in this collective experience.

“A theatre is nothing without its audience, which is why we’re telling everyone in Los Angeles that they should ‘Just go!’ to celebrate and support the performing arts. And now, we’re making it even easier to enjoy some of the best theatre in the country thanks to our $20 Ticket Drop Tuesdays.”
