Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo utilises SecuTix technology for 2022 return

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will return in 2022 following COVID-19-induced cancellations and will offer digital ticketing for the first time, thanks to a multi-year agreement with ticketing technology provider SecuTix.

The event will return in August next year, and will utilise digital ticketing through SecuTix’s mobile ticketing solution, TixNGo.

The Tattoo’s app will allow customers to purchase tickets smoothly, while SecuTix’s S-360 platform will feature a 3D interactive seat map to allow guests to view, compare and choose their seats. The 360-degree panoramic view of the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade will help customers to buy the best seats for the Tattoo.

Buster Howes, chief executive of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said: “2022 marks a new era for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The last two years gave us an opportunity to review and reinvigorate our brand vision, strategy, and operations to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our guests, not just for today, but also in the future.

“We chose SecuTix because of their work on some of the world’s biggest and best events and track record on delivering digital transformation for their partners. We hope to leverage this next generation ticketing technology and expertise to help us achieve our vision for the future of the Tattoo.”

The new platform will also sell a new five-tier membership scheme, hospitality packages and process any charitable donations to The Royal Edinburgh Tattoo.

David Hornby, managing director of SecuTix UK and Ireland, added: “We’re incredibly proud to be working with one of the most iconic events in the UK, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, particularly at this exciting moment in its history as it looks to broaden its appeal to new audiences.

“Our open cloud technology will help the team get closer to guests, understand their needs and requirements and continue to deliver the best customer experience.”

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will run from August 5-27 next year, with tickets going on general sale on December 1.
