BookMyShow saw eight million customers attend live entertainment shows during 2022.
The Indian ticketing and entertainment group helped them attend 19,000 shows in the country over the course of the year.
Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai were the busiest metro cities – be it movies, live entertainment or on-demand video entertainment with BookMyShow Stream – consistently topping the charts across all.
The group said: “2022 saw non-metros and tier 2 (and beyond) markets, really coming into their own as consumers of entertainment growing tremendously with Ahmedabad being crowned king of the non-metro market with the maximum entertainment experienced across movies, live entertainment and on-demand video entertainment with BookMyShow Stream.”
In terms of cinema, K.G.F. 2 sold 34% of overall tickets for weekends alone and broke a five-year long record by surpassing Baahubali 2 to become the top-selling film on BookMyShow with a whopping 17.7 million tickets sold overall. It added that its busiest day of the year was April 14 when it sold a huge 2.14m tickets for K.G.F. 2 alone.

Some 1.1m hours of content was streamed courtesy of BookMyShow Stream with more than 200 films released in the past 12 months alone on the platform. April was the month of choice with the highest number of streams sold and engagement garnered on BookMyShow Stream in a pay-per-view format through the month.
