Theatre Deli’s new Sheffield venue is set to open in March with performances of MAD(E) by Mandela Theatre.
The theatre charity has announced that the space’s opening production will run between March 21 and 25, with more events to be announced for the spring and summer.
Autumn will present the first full season at the new venue and will include The Social Model…& More Festival, which will focus on exploring the success and limitations of the Social Model of Disability. This will run across Theatre Deli’s Sheffield and London venues.
Theatre Deli’s space is based in Arley Street Studio Hub in Sheffield, which is a collection of artists studios run by CADS, a creative arts charity. The space will feature three rehearsal studios including a dance studio with a custom-built dance floor and mirrors; a performance space with a capacity of roughly 100, an open office area, a bar and a café.
The refurbishment has been funded by a mixed grant and loan provided by the Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund, and received via Key Fund.
The fund comes from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), as part of the legacy of the Great Exhibition in the north.
Theatre Deli’s new Arley Street space will be its third Sheffield venue and 13th nationally, including the charity’s current London base that opened in July last year.
