FC Barcelona sets single match ticket sales record

FC Barcelona generated a record €8.2m from ticket sales from its LaLiga game against rivals Real Madrid over the weekend.

It is believed that the figure is a record for a single match at Spotify Camp Nou, with around €3m contributed from the VIP boxes alone. As many as 95,745 people packed the stadium for the game, which Barcelona won 2-1.

The Catalans will soon leave Camp Nou on a temporary basis due to the latest phase of the Espai Barça redevelopment programme. The expansion of the stadium from a capacity of 98,000 to 105,000 could see it generate €346m in income per season.

Late last year, Barcelona teamed up with Legends International to market VIP boxes and seats at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona said the deal will complement an agreement with Innovative Partnerships Group (IPG 360), which will look to sign partners for the club’s wide-ranging Espai Barça project. Both agreements will be designed to maximise revenue generation at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona has cited partnership agreements and new VIP offers as two of the main ways to generate revenue at the new Camp Nou. The club added that its deal with streaming service Spotify for naming rights to the stadium will be the first of a series of sponsorship agreements linked to the venue.

Barcelona will spend the 2023-24 season at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys while the Camp Nou undergoes major renovation work.
