The Piece Hall (pictured) has smashed the 100,000 ticket sales mark ahead of a busy summer of live shows.
The historic Halifax venue is set to host headline shows from artists such as Sting, Queens of the Stone Age, Madness, Rag’n’Bone Man, Hozier, boygenius, Orbital and James, plus many others.
Live at The Piece Hall co-promoters The Piece Hall Trust and Cuffe and Taylor recently revealed the total, which has broken box office records and is the first time the venue has seen ticket sales hit six figures.
Nicky Chance-Thompson, chief executive of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, said: “What a phenomenal milestone to have reached. Our strong partnership with Cuffe and Taylor means we are able to bring world-class artists to our iconic venue, and these sales prove just how big the appetite is for quality live music at The Piece Hall.
“This is a huge deal for Halifax and Calderdale in terms of the visitor economy, investment into the area and creating a powerful feeling of pride in place. I want to say a big thank you to the team at Cuffe and Taylor for sharing our vision and thanks to every single person who has bought a ticket so far, we can’t wait for you to join us for our biggest and most diverse season of live music yet.”
A number of shows at the 5,500-capacity outdoor venue sold out in record time, including George Ezra’s July 6 gig, which saw fans snap up all tickets within minutes of them going on sale last week.
The summer’s string of music dates will also help to deliver an economic boost for the local region.
Peter Taylor, co-founder of Cuffe and Taylor, which has been part of Live Nation since 2017, said: “Get ready for an incredible summer at this wonderful venue. Last year we broke box office records when we sold 60,000 tickets. To now top 100,000 sales – even before our first show with Madness on June 16 – just shows what a truly special venue this is.
“The music industry has certainly sat up and taken notice and huge stars – from across many diverse genres from pop to rock to legendary dance acts – want to come and play here. Together with The Piece Hall Trust, we will continue to strive to bring the biggest names in music to Yorkshire and this incredible venue.”
Cuffe and Taylor entered into a co-promotional partnership with The Piece Hall in February last year.
