Spanish LaLiga club Real Betis is inviting fans to donate their ‘mane’ in recognition of International Cancer Day, and will in return, hand out two free tickets against Villarreal on the same day.
The club is inviting fans that have hair longer than 35cm to have their mop chopped off and donated to make wigs for women that are undergoing cancer treatment.
In the run-up to the match on Sunday, February 6, there will be a dedicated area at the club’s Benito Villamarin Stadium in Seville to welcome fans willing to donate their hair. Fans who participate in this initiative will receive two free tickets for the game.
Further fundraising efforts for the battle against cancer include Real Betis making an extra €1 donation for each ticket sold for the Villarreal match, to the Pink Bracelets Association, an organisation that helps with the needs faced before, during and after cancer treatment.
Pink Bracelets are also helping the club to organise and manage the hair donation drive.
The hair must be dry and at least 35cm in order to be cut and donated towards the wig making – fans just need to get in touch with the club and send a picture of their locks, with the club to contact them about donating.
