Wimbledon hikes women’s final ticket prices to match men’s

Wimbledon fans will have to pay the same amount of money to watch the men’s and women’s singles finals for the first time in 31 years.

A report from The Times outlines that in 2021, fans watching Australian Ash Barty’s win over Czech Karolina Pliskova had to pay £200 (€236/$271), while those watching the men’s final between Serbian Novak Djokovic and Italian Matteo Berrettini had to stump up £240.

It will now cost spectators £240 for both the men’s and women’s singles finals.

Organisers, The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), have also decided the price hike will be replicated for the semi-finals of the Wimbledon Championships, with women’s singles matches costing £210 to match the men’s.

This year’s tournament is set to take place from June 27 to July 10. This year will also be the first time spectators in the lower sections will have to pay £10 more than fans sat higher up.

The AELTC also decided this year that there would be no public ballot for tickets, to allow those that were successful in the 2020 ballot to take up their ticket offer. These spectators will be offered tickets for the same day and court at this year’s Championships.

Wimbledon has paid winners of the men’s and women’s singles’ tournament the same prize money since 2007.
