People on the move: ASM Global, Goldenvoice and more…


We round up the latest movements from the ticketing sector and associated industries…

ASM Global has announced that Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) general manager Bob O’Keefe will combine his new position as chief executive of BCEC with the role of chief operating officer – venue operations for ASM Global (APAC).

Kym Guesdon, who is currently in the dual role of ASM Global group director, human resources as well as the BCEC HR director, has been appointed the BCEC general manager in O’Keefe’s place.

The changes follow the news that Rod Philbeam (pictured right), one of the founders of the business now operating as ASM Global (APAC), will step back as chief operating officer to part-time role from July.

In the UK, ASM Global has made Sam Ryder the general manager of York Barbican.

Ryder joins from the ASM Global-operated Bonus Arena in Hull where he has worked as head of operations, and as part of the team that first opened the arena in 2018.  He will start his new position from July.

Elsewhere, Barry Aherne has started a new role as head of events and membership at the British & Irish Lions.

Aherne previously worked as an event director for the Lions between September 2020 and August 2021, before moving onto Two Circles sports marketing agency and finally back to the Lions.

He wrote on LinkedIn: “After nearly a year of honing my skills further at Two Circles on the launch of FIFA+, the opportunity to return to the Lions was something I couldn’t say no to. Hugely excited to be leading the new events strategy for the Lions as we head towards to the AU Tour in 2025.”

Stage Entertainment, a musical theatre and production company, has appointed Kirsty Doubleday as head of international brand management.

Doubleday has worked in the industry for 25 years and is currently the director of client services at West End arts advertising agency Dewynters. In her new role, she will lead the international marketing strategy and commercial operations for TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, as well as brand development at Stage Entertainment.

Melissa Ormond (pictured left) has been named as the chief operating officer of Los Angeles-based concert promoter and live event company Goldenvoice.

Parent company AEG Presents announced the news yesterday (Tuesday) and said that Ormond will also retain her current title as COO of festivals for AEG Presents, a role she has been in since October 2017.

As COO of Goldenvoice, Orman will oversee the day-to-day running of the company’s concert promotions, venue portfolio, festivals and growth initiatives. She will continue to work with a number of festival teams in her concurrent role.

Goldenvoice chief executive Paul Tollett said: “Melissa’s reputation precedes her. She’s a brilliant executive and one of the most dedicated, clear-eyed, hardworking people I’ve met.  I’m so happy she’s joining Goldenvoice in this new role.”

Live entertainment business Trafalgar Entertain has launched a new ticketing arm, Trafalgar Tickets, as well as Trafalgar Theatres. With the move comes a slew of management changes.

Chris McGuigan has been appointed group commercial director for Trafalgar Theatres, while Alvin Hargreaves has become the group operations director.

Peter Brayshaw, who is currently the chief financial officer and CEO of Stagecoach Theatre Arts will join the Trafalgar Theatres team as finance director, venues and education.

Trafalgar Tickets will be led by Johan Oosterveld as the new division’s CEO.
