Scottish Rugby to make move to digital ticketing app

Scottish Rugby will be utilising a new digital ticketing app this season.

The Scottish rugby union governing body hopes the move will drive improved sustainability, access and security. The move to paperless ticketing is also part of its digital transformation journey to improve supporter experience on match days.

The Scottish Rugby Ticketing app will be available soon, and ticket-holders for the upcoming Scotland Autumn Nation Series at BT Murrayfield will be contacted about the next steps to make sure customers have their tickets ready.

All Scotland match tickets will be delivered to the Scottish Rugby Ticketing app on a supporter’s mobile device, which is then scanned at the turnstiles to enter the 67,000-capacity BT Murrayfield.

Fans will be able to access their tickets on the mobile app using the same account in which they purchase their Scottish Rugby tickets. The tickets are linked to the new app using the mobile number registered to the buyer’s account.

While the app is not currently available to download, it is set to be launched soon. During this first season with digital ticketing, Scotland match tickets will be delivered via the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App while Scotland season passes will be posted to holders in early October.

Ticket delivery for Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors will remain via digital delivery to ticket holders’ email accounts and season ticket cards.

The move to digital ticketing is another step for Scottish Rugby’s digitalisation, after announcing that it had launched Ticketmaster’s 3D Virtual Venue technology. Rugby fans are able to digitally preview 360-degree views and see real time availability of tickets, before comparing to other sections and choosing a seat.
