Dubai’s Global Village attraction to reopen today

Dubai’s Global Village is set to reopen today (Tuesday) with new attractions, shows and additional amenities to improve the visitor experience.

During its last season, which usually runs for six months but was extended for a further four weeks, a record 7.8 million guests visited the attraction.

The attraction is celebrating its 27th season, with 27 pavilions representing over 80 cultures from around the world. The pavilions represent different nations and cultures including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Africa, the Americas, China, Egypt, Europe, India and more. New additions include Oman and Qatar.

There will be a new concept, Road of Asia, which will be a pedestrian street with 43 different kiosks, full of food and products from countries that are not represented by the individual pavilions.

Some of the countries featured in the Road of Asia include Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunei, Laos, Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan and the Philippines.

Further attractions include a new haunted house called House of Fear, a Global Village Big Balloon experience and Heroes Gallery, which is an exhibition inspired by superheroes and movies. There will also be the introduction of the Diggers Lab and the return of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium, which is returning for its fourth year.

The ‘Carnaval’ funfair boasts over 170 rides, games and attractions, with attendees now able to benefit from Fast Track queues for seven of the most popular rides.

Mark Tucker, director of Orb Entertainment, said at the time of the new attractions announcement: “All summer long our team has been working hard to improve existing rides and dream up new experiences.

“It takes thousands of man-hours to ensure that all our rides and attractions are at the level our millions of guests have come to expect from us. From safety to guest experience everything is ready and we can’t wait to open the gates on Season 27.”
