Global ticketing platform See Tickets has notified customers of a data breach, which has reportedly lasted two-and-a-half years.
While See Tickets and parent company Vivendi have yet to come forward with statements, consumer rights law firm Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP has published a press release to say that it is investigating claims on behalf of customers whose information may have been stolen.
As per the release, the firm said: “See Tickets is notifying customers that their personal information, including names and credit and debit card information may have been stolen as part of a hack which occurred between June 2019 and January 2022.”
A statement from French media company Vivendi and See Tickets was published in several states in the US, including Montana, informing them that there had been a “data security incident” that may have affected customer’s card details.
The notice also said that affected customers include those who purchased event tickets through See Tickets between June 25, 2019 and January 8, 2022, and that details included name, address, zip code (post code), payment card number, card expiration date and CVV number.
However, the notice said that See Tickets did not store information such as Social Security numbers, state identification numbers or bank account information.
According to the statement, See Tickets was alerted to activity indicating potential unauthorised access by a third party to certain event checkout pages on its website in April 2021. The company launched an investigation with the assistance of a forensics firm to shut it down, but took until early January 2022 to fully end the unauthorised activity.
“On September 12, 2022, we determined the event may have resulted in unauthorised access to the payment card information of certain of our customers. While our investigation continues and we are not certain your information was affected, we are notifying you out of an abundance of caution based on available information,” added the statement.
