Digital ticket stubs
Digital sports collectibles platform ClubStubs, in partnership with technology studio Appetite Creative, has reportedly produced commemorative NFT (non-fungible token) ticket stubs. These ticket stubs will be available to American football fans across more than 100 live games during the 2022 season. The NFTS are hosted on the Solana blockchain and feature distinct artwork for each team.
Digital wallets
According to research from technology intelligence firm ABI Research, global mobile wallet usage will increase from a circulation of 3.5 billion in 2022 to over 5.6 billion in 2027. Mobile wallets are not only utilised in a cashless society, but also for enhanced functionalities and access to markets including identity and ticketing.
Manchester United embraces Web3
English Premier League club Manchester United (pictured) is offering fans its first official digital collectible. The club has launched a new Web3 community and the collectible will be available through a Tezos-based platform. The first drop of NFTs will be gifted to fans with further digital collectibles sold at a later date. Manchester United has also said that 20% of proceeds from subsequent collections will be donated to the Manchester United Foundation.
BookMyShow branches out
Job-tech platform Fastjobs has raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-seed round from investors, including a major sum from founder and chief executive of ticketing and entertainment company BookMyShow, Ashish Hemrajani. The Mumbai-headquartered company’s co-founder and director Parikshit Dar also invested.
