The Villages Entertainment has chosen digital ticketing platform True Tickets as its official digital ticket delivery partner.
The Villages is a retirement community in Florida, US and The Villages Entertainment provides tickets for shows at venues such as the Savannah Center, The Sharon L Morse Performing Arts Center, The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol, Brownwood Paddock Square, Lake Sumter Landing Market Square, Spanish Springs Town Square, Sawgrass Grove, Old Mill Playhouse and Lazy Mac’s Playhouse.
Those living in the Village have previously complained about scalpers using automated systems buying programmes to snap up tickets and resell them at inflated prices.
Brian Russo, executive director of entertainment at The Villages, told Villages News: “We are a vital community with varied interests, and we average 500,000 tickets a year. With in-person shows and entertainment opportunities coming back, we want to better engage with our community. We feel we are in good hands with True Tickets.”
Earlier this year, True Tickets introduced rules-based ticket sharing, which enables organisers to create and assign rules relating to the sharing of digital tickets. This creates a chain of custody for each ticket and makes the enforcement of terms and conditions easier.
True Tickets co-founder and chief executive Matt Zarracina added: “We are very excited to partner with The Villages. What is incredibly validating for our company is that this partnership demonstrates True Tickets is solving a very focused problem around identity and accountability in ticketing that impacts a very broad set of organisations.”
