The Killers are the headline act that will open the new Steelhouse Omaha venue this May with tickets going on sale this week.
The Omaha Performing Arts venue will feature mid-sized concerts for audiences between 1,500 and 3,300 people. The $104m venue in the US state of Nebraska has been developed by Ennead Architects, Holland Basham Architects, Fisher Dachs theatre consultants and Threshold Acoustics, and Kiewit Building Group.
Tickets for the Killers concert on May 12 will go on sale this Friday (Feb 17) via Ticketmaster. The opening weekend festivities will include more bands and performances, a community open house, and family activities.
“The Killers are considered one of the biggest artists of the 21st century and we are excited to welcome them to open Steelhouse Omaha on May 12,” said Joan Squires, Omaha Performing Arts president.
“We wanted to present an incredible opening evening that will demonstrate how we’re adding to Omaha’s entertainment options. We’re grateful to our donors and the City of Omaha who contributed to build this fabulous venue and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to Steelhouse Omaha.”
Omaha Performing Arts already operates two landmark venues, the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center.
Omaha Performing Arts describes the Steelhouse as a “unique performance space that will provide the opportunity to present new and innovative programs in non-traditional layouts. It will also provide an exciting place for local artists and community groups to innovate and create.”
