LA Theatre Week to encourage new audiences and returning theatre lovers

LA Theatre Week will enable theatre fans to watch more than 75 productions for as little as $20 (£17/€19).

From yesterday (Monday) theatre-goers can now snap up tickets for LA Theatre Week, which will take place from March 13-26, at an accessible price point.

According to a recent survey from ticketing provider Goldstar, only 25% of respondents in the greater Los Angeles area that attended a live event in the past year saw a theatrical performance. A further 62% said that tickets being too expensive was the reason they may not want to attend live events.

Katie Junod, general manager of presenting company Goldstar, said: “Theatre and the performing arts add meaning, purpose, and connection to our lives. As many of us live more of our lives digitally, we shouldn’t lose sight of the importance of live performing arts as a way to gather with our community.

“While Los Angeles is known for its contribution to film, Theatre Week is the perfect vehicle to remind both new and established audiences of what exceptional stage performances exist locally.”

The survey revealed further reasons behind not attending a theatre performance, which include the time spent commuting. LA Theatre Week has tried to address this with performances available all over Los Angeles.

Participating shows and venues include Hairspray at Dolby Theatre, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at La Mirada Theatre, Chicago at Segerstrom and more.

Since 2016, TodayTix Group has hosted Theatre Week events in the US and the UK to generate interest in performing arts, attract new audiences and fill venues.
