EuroLeague regular season breaks attendance records

The EuroLeague 2022-23 regular season averaged its highest attendance ever with an average of 8,748 spectators per game.

The European basketball league’s previous record had been 8,676 fans per game during the 2019-20 campaign.

It is also a major improvement on the 2018-19 season, which saw an average attendance of 7,935 per game.

The EuroLeague announced that it was on track to break previous attendance records in January.

More than half of the teams in the league played in front of crowds of at least 80% capacity this season, with four playing in front of 90% capacity crowds. Zalgiris Kaunas and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv attracted the most spectators across the season, with the two teams filling 96% of their seats for home games.

Zalgiris Kaunas also took second place in terms of highest overall attendance, with 14,801 per game, while Anadolu Efes Istanbul welcomed 13,114 per game.

Six of the eight playoff teams boasted fill rates above 80% and five of the six teams that averaged more than 10,000 fans per game reached the playoffs.

The EuroLeague boasted a total of 2,668,148 fans in attendance across the season.
