Vastly experienced music industry executive Caron Veazey has joined the board of directors at DICE. In addition to working alongside the artist development, content, and leadership teams, Veazey will also utilise her leadership experience in diversity, equity and inclusion spaces. Veazey is the founder of Something In Common, a management and consulting agency specialising in music, film, art and culture.
“Caron is one of the industry’s top music executives and her global knowledge will be invaluable as DICE continues to expand,” said Phil Hutcheon, founder and CEO of DICE. “Not only has Caron worked at some of the biggest record labels and managed one of the world’s most successful artists, I greatly admire her commitment to advocacy work and desire to change the industry for the better.”
Shah-Zeib Ahmed, the former head of ticketing for the Rugby League World Cup 2021 in England, has joined Super League rugby league club Salford Red Devils as a co-opted director following a rigorous recruitment process in collaboration with the Rugby Football League and Inclusive Boards.
Ahmed, who has provided consultancy services for numerous clients in the ticketing space, including football’s global governing body FIFA, said: “Following the club’s initiative to become the first community-owned elite rugby league club, there are exciting challenges ahead, where I look forward to strengthening the board and supporting the club strategy.”
Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre in the UK, has announced that he will step down when his second term concludes in 2025. During his eight-year spell at the helm, the National Theatre has broadened both its programme and audience, while at the same time expanding its reach far beyond the South Bank in an effort to make it more accessible to audiences than ever before.
Norris said: “It has been and remains the greatest privilege of my career to lead the National Theatre. For the past eight years I have had the honour of shaping the programme of extraordinary work that sparks imagination, brings people together and illustrates the vital role theatre can play in all our lives.”
Susan Tanner, chief executive of the National Outdoor Events Association and vice-chair of UKEVENTS, has joined the board of the UK Tourism Alliance, which represents the collective interests of the tourism sector and visitor economy in the country.
Tanner, who will serve on the 2023-24 board as the alliance’s UKEVENTS representative, succeeds Michael Hirst OBE, who spent a decade on the board.
Arjo Klingens will join Live Nation-backed MOJO Concerts as its new manager of bookings for Dutch talent on September 1. Klingens will make the switch from LaLaLa Management, where she has been music and business manager for the past 18 years.
“From the first conversation with MOJO about this new position, I immediately felt that this was made for me,” he said. “It is an important development for Dutch music in general that a strong player like MOJO wants to give their local artists a more prominent place. MOJO and me, we go way back.”
