Lyon event-goers hit by New Year’s Eve Ticketswap scam

Event-goers in Lyon were left disappointed after arriving at the FKCNYE festival, held at Eurexpo Lyon, to find that their tickets were fake.

According to a report from news outlet ActuLyon, attendees bought tickets for the New Year’s Eve party through the Ticketswap platform.

More than 30 artists were playing across four different stages to see in the New Year and once tickets had sold out through the official channels, many turned to resale site Ticketswap to purchase a pass.

The report said many that were scammed bought tickets from the same profile under the name of Anouar. The user was offering a ticket for €58 (£51/$62) instead of €65, which was the price of the ticket originally.

Once users arrived at the event, they found that their tickets were invalid and were told to head to the ticket office. They were told they were not the only ones that were scammed, and many lodged a complaint with Ticketswap.

The resale platform reportedly stated that it had opened an investigation into the significant number of invalid tickets.

FKCNYE festival organisers and Ticketswap said that the dealer’s account had not been credited, the money made had been blocked, and that refunds will be sent to those affected.
