Tickets go on sale for inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships

Tickets have gone on general sale for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, which will be made up of 13 UCI World Championships in different disciplines for the first time.

The inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships are organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and are set to be held in Glasgow and across Scotland from August 3-13. Fans will now be able to purchase tickets to events that will see over 200 rainbow jerseys awarded throughout the 11 days.

Tickets can now be bought online with the opportunity to purchase tickets for individual or multiple events. Prices start from £8 (€9/$10).

Some of the UCI World Championships events will also be free of charge and will therefore not require tickets to watch. These include road, para-cycling road, Gran Fondo, trials, BMX Freestyle Flatland and mountain bike cross-country marathon (though a fare is required for the shuttle bus to follow the event).

A kick-off event was held at the Glasgow BMX Centre to celebrate the opening of ticket sales, and welcomed Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Cabinet Secretary Angus Robertson and former BMX Racing UCI World Champion Shanaze Reade.

UCI president David Lappartient said: “Fans attending the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships will be part of an important chapter of our sport’s history. We are less than six months away from a momentous 11 days of action and I would sincerely encourage people to get in quickly to be sure of witnessing some fantastic racing and competition. I look forward to seeing the whole cycling family united in Scotland for this unprecedented event.”

Sturgeon added: “Hosting the first ever UCI Cycling World Championships is an excellent opportunity to showcase Scotland to the world, promote cycling and the many benefits it can bring. Tickets going on general sale is one way for people to get involved. However, we want members of the public to not only enjoy watching the many different types of event on offer but be inspired by the power of the bike to give cycling a try for themselves – for exercise, sport, transport or even just for fun.”
