Major League Baseball introduces StubHub as authorised ticket marketplace

Major League Baseball (MLB) and resale platform StubHub have renewed their partnership, extending a relationship that first started in 2007.

As part of its new model, MLB has created authorised ticket marketplaces where fans are able to purchase and sell tickets for baseball games. StubHub has been announced as the first MLB authorised ticket marketplace.

MLB will continue to form non-exclusive partnerships with other secondary ticket providers to create further authorised ticket marketplaces.

Earlier this year, StubHub was ousted as MLB’s official ticket marketplace and replaced with SeatGeek. The authorised ticket marketplaces will complement the SeatGeek official ticket marketplace.

Noah Garden, MLB chief revenue officer, said: “MLB’s new ticketing model is designed to put fans first. With our long-standing partnership in the secondary ticketing space, it is only fitting that StubHub is the first to join the new program.

“Our approach will give fans an even wider array of platform options to ensure that the tickets they are buying on the secondary market are legitimate. StubHub’s brand recognition and long-standing credibility will continue to represent an important place where fans can exchange tickets for MLB games with confidence.”

Cris Miller, StubHub chief business officer, added: “We’re pleased to be continuing our valued relationship with Major League Baseball, with whom we’ve partnered for over a decade.

“This new integration underscores our ongoing commitment to partnerships that give buyers and sellers of live event tickets wider access and reinforces that StubHub is a go-to platform for customers, including season ticket holders, to easily secure and sell baseball tickets.”
